Born and raised in Los Angeles, California, she is the youngest daughter of Honduran born Maria Martinez and Nicaraguan born Felix Mejia. Allyn received her first camera when she was a child—a TIME magazine vintage promo camera given to her by her mother. It was later that her brother gave her a Zenit E 55mm and her photography started to take focus
Allyn’s influences are photographer Robert Frank and playwright Tennessee Williams. While she enjoys shooting in digital, film is still her passion. Allyn produces work in both traditional black and white photography and digital. All forms of developing, editing, and printing are performed by Allyn Mejia.
Allyn is a part of an organization called Colored Pencils who run a monthly art show. If you would like to enter your art work, please read the guidelines and contact Allyn for further info.
